Huang Hua Gang Park

On March, 29, 1911 of traditional Chinese calendar, the members of the United League (Tung Meng Hui), rose in arms, led by Sun Yat-sen, the great predecessor of Chinese revolution for democracy. Though the uprising turned out to be a failure at last, the spirit of those 72 martyrs is striking. After the foundation of the People’s Republic of China, a special commemorating park was built to memorize the martyrs buried in Huang Hua Gang who sacrificed in the Guangzhou rebel.

In front of the Huang Hua Gang park gate, there is a stately stele inscribed four Chinese characters “Hao Qi Chang Cun” (the justice lasts forever) written by Sun Yat-sen. Inside the park, there are a number of erect green and verdant pines and cypresses standing in order, representing the undaunted spirits of those martyrs at all time. The tomb of those 72 martyrs quietly stood on the top of the hill, rooting into the land they loved deeply. Behind the tomb, there is a stele for merits and virtues, on the top of which is a statue for Goddess of Liberty, expressing the revolutionary spirits of fighting for the freedom and equality for our motherland. Beside the tomb, there are some vigorous pines planted by Mr. Sun Yat-sen himself.

When visiting the Huang Hua Gang Park, you can experience not only the strong revolutionary determination of “one man falls, another steps into the breach” from those martyrs for overthrowing the rule of the Qing government and establishing a democratic society, but also the feeling of “sacrificing their families to support the Xin Hai Revolution” from a great number of overseas Chinese.

Besides, there are other scenic spots inside Huang Hua Gang Park such as Huang Hua Well, Huang Hua Pavilion, Mo Pond, Si Fang Pond, Ba Jiao Pavilion and Huang Hua Garden as well as the Tennis Corner services division where travelers can have a rest or take a walk here in their intervals from touring.
