The hilly areas like Wufang and Pingshang in Xinhen Town, Jiedong County is rich in green tea (fried tea). The tea is as yellowish as peanut oil. Its taste is pure and sweet. Wufang Green Tea is also called the” Bird-Pecking Tea”. It’s said it was found by accident by a local villager in the late Qing Dynasty when he climbed up the mountain to cut the grass.  After being cultivated and processed, it was made into the finished product. It has been sold in quantity at home and abroad during the period of the Republic of China.  When China established diplomatic relations with Thailand, the government of Thailand specially put forward a claim. China made a deal with Thailand to supply the green tea of Wufang and Pingshang for export. It shows the tea had great influence in the past. Not only its taste is good, but also it has the function of dissolving fat and aiding digestion. The aged fried tea which is stored for a long time even has the functions of clearing away phlegm and absorbing clots.
