Ruyuan Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is 15 kilometers long and over 300 meters deep, characterized by quartz grits. The canyon top is flat, but from the rundle-like cliff rushes out a water flow of over 200 meters down to the canyon bottom, displaying a majestic and boundless waterfall. There is a “Natural Ladder” of 1386 stone steps with a 50 degree bevel, and it can help reach the canyon bottom. The varied dongas, steep peaks and ancient, towering trees are displaying unique natural scenery.

There is one-hour bus trip from Shaoguan to Ruyuan. Four shifts of tour bus are available respectively at 8:00, 9: 30, 14:00 and 15:30 within one day from Ruyuan County to Dabu Town (a small town nearest to Grand Canyon). It will take you two and a half hours, after which you can spend ten Yuan to take a motorbike to Ruyuan Grand Canyon.

1. Tourists are suggested to visit the canyon with accompany of experienced personnel; it is appropriate for people who are not in good health conditions to take the tour elevator rather than the stone steps to reach the canyon bottom 2. Tourists are suggested to bring along a heavy coat to prevent the low temperature at the canyon bottom, and a pair of anti-sleep shoes for traveling on foot; it is advisable to bring some food with you in case of hunger or thirst.
