Mt. Dinghu

Dinghu Mountain is composed mainly of Dinghu Mountain, Chicken Coop Mountain and Lying Tiger Mountain and some others. The sea level of the highest peak Chicken Coop Mountain is 1,000.8m, which is the highest peak in the Zhujiang Delta.

Dinghu scenery area is covered with heavy forests and the area of the virgin forests reaches 4,000 hectare. Therefore the area enjoys the reputation of the oasis on the Tropic of Cancer. More than 2,000 kinds of wild plants and 300 cultivated plants grow here. Besides, there are more than 170 species of birds and 30 kinds of animals and some other rare animals living here. It’s among the first group of China’s nature reserves and was listed by the UNESCO 1979 among the designated scientific research stations of the UN “man and nature biosphere”. Since then it is regarded as a living nature museum and a green treasure house.

Dinghu Mountain is also the first national key scenery resort. The Heavenly Brook Scenic Area, the Tianhu Scenic Area and the Yunxi Scenic Area are included. Major scenic spots are Winding path in the clouds, Adventure in Heavenly Lake,Lying Tiger Listening to the sound of brooks, Buddha bathing in the holy water, Dragon hidden in the ancient pond and White clouds embracing ancient trees.

Tourists can take buses from Guangzhou to Zhaoqing at Guangzhou Bus Station starting every 15 minutes and get off at the Paifang bus station at No.321 National Highway and then walk about 2km to the gate of Dinghu Mount. Take buses from Guangzhou to Zhouqing at Yuexiu Nan Bus station and get off at the Puddle Station and then take an electro-mobile or walk about 15 minutes to the gate. If in the city, Bus No.15 can drive you there.

1. Food: Huarong Hotel at the gate of Dinghu Mountain and the Dajiale River Fish Boat are good choices. If you are a vegetarian, the restaurant of Dinghu International Club and the dinning hall of Qingyun Temple shouldn’t be missed. 2. Accommodation: Dinghu Summer Villa and the Holiday Village in Qingyun Temple are at reasonable price with good environment. 3. Special products: vegetarian diet, tea cake, purple menses 4.
