The Green Lotus Peak, situated by the Li River and close to the Yangshuo Dock, is given this name because when seen alone, it looks like a green lotus in bud; but seen together with the hills around, they looks like a blossoming lotus flower, especially their reflection in the Li River. It's also called Jianshan (Mirror Hill) because there is a giant rock which is smooth like a mirror on the northern hillside of the hill.
The Best place for enjoying the Green Lotus Peak is the Lotus Viewing Bridge, also called Yangshuo Bridge, built in 1978. Visitors also can appreciate the scenery on boat, enjoying the mountains in distance and waters nearby. There are plenty of stone inscription on the Green Lotus Peak, among which the giant Chinese character “Dai” literally meaning “belt” is the most famous one. It is 6 meters in height and 3 meters in weight, carved by the renowned calligrapher Wang Yuanren in Qing Dynasty. This stone inscription is really unique and interesting because it is actually composed of fourteen Chinese characters meaning “As the hills and rivers in this area lead the world in beauty, so the youngsters should strive to become leading figures in talent and ability.”
Its hillside facing the Li River lies a two-storey tower called Jianshan Tower, from where visitors can get a bird’s eyes view of the Li River.
