Overview
The Guangzhou Zoo is one of the 3 largest zoos in the country and is located on the Xian Lie Road. The zoo covers an area of over 42 hectares and has a large range of animals.
It receives more than 4 million tourists each year from all over the country. Guangzhou Zoo is a diversified spot for entertainment, science education and animal exhibition.

Introduction
The Guangzhou Zoo was opened to the public in the year 1958 and it covers an area of more than 42 hectares. The zoo is home to more than 5000 animal species that have been collected from China as well as abroad. All of these animals are displayed in different areas according to species and genus such as herbivores, cats, primates, birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects. The zoo is one of the three most popular and largest zoos in the country and attracts around 4 million visitors each year.
The Animals
The native Chinese animals residing in the Guangzhou Zoo include black neck cranes, Eld’s deer, deer, tigers from South China, golden monkeys and giant pandas. The animal species from abroad include rare animals and birds such as black swans, rhinos, zebras, hippopotamus, African elephants, giraffes and chimpanzees.
Ocean World
The Ocean World is located within the Guangzhou Zoo and it has more than 200 types of marine life creatures and fish. The important sites here include Sea Lions Paradise, Shark Aquarium, Carp Pond, Fresh Water World, Touch Pool, Treasure Tank, an 18 meters long Tropical Reef Tank, Deep Sea Landscape and Undersea Tunnel. All of these offer a visual feast to the eyes.
Kangaroo House
There is a wooden bridge constructed above a playground fenced with glass. Here tourists can watch kangaroos at play and understand their life and habits.
Bird House
The bird house is located in western and central Guangzhou Zoo and it is spread over 8000 sq m. Birds live freely in this area without any bird cages or wire fences. Birds like turkeys, emus, ostriches and parrots are separated only by rocks and stream. The bird playground is expanded recently by 4500 sq m. This allows visitors to watch the birds directly and more conveniently.
Gorilla House
One of the biggest attractions in Guangzhou Zoo is the Gorilla House which is spread over 3000 sq m area. Two thirds of this area is in the style of a garden playground. The House has been divided into an outdoor and indoor house. The first floor of the indoor house has 8 air conditioned large rest rooms. There are also two glass rooms where visitors can observe gorillas face to face and in close proximity. The second floor has been built as an observation terrace so visitors can observe the gorillas from a higher vantage point.
Goldfish Display
The Goldfish Display is located next to Hippo Pond. The pond breeds over 10,000 different varieties of various fish. 100 of these are valuable species from abroad and from China. For this breeding program the Guangzhou Zoo had won an award from the Guinness Book of World Records. It is a wonderland for children where they can observe lobsters and fishes.

Very big with dense coverage of vegetation. Looks like an ideal living environment for animals. Transportation is convenient. On weekends, you can take your children there, or just stroll around with friends.
