Guiyang falls within the monsoon climate in subtropical zone that is temperate and humid without severe winters or hot summers, characterized by abundant rainfall and longer frost-free period, with the annual average temperature 15.3℃; the rainfall 1197 mm; the relative humidity 76.9% and the frost-free period about 270 days. The hottest day occurs in late July, and the coldest in early January. People in Guiyang are proud of the pleasant climate and often compare it to Kunming as "Another Spring City".

Tips for Planning a Trip

  1. If you are fascinating with the Ethnic Customs, the best time to there is during the Spring Festival Holidays and in early Spring. The local festivals are mainly celebrated in this month.
  2. Avoid visiting there during the May Holidays ( the 1st week of May) and National Holidays ( the 1st week of October), for there will be much more Chinese tourists than other times.
  3. There is old sayings that "No sunny days can last more than 3 days in Guizhou". All the year along is the rainy season here, especially in the late Spring and early Summer. Do bring an small umbrella with you.
