The Mabaoshu Nature Reserve

The Mabaoshu Nature Reserve is an essential component of the Maling River Valley Scenic Zone. Inside the Reserve there are many thousands meters high peaks, deep valleys and ponds, lush trees and vines, hot springs, running waterfalls and fantastic caves. The 150 meters high waterfall is composed of a number of small waterfalls and brooks.  The width of the waterfall is subject to the different seasons. People therefore always liken the waterfall a pearl necklace; each pond of the waterfall is a shinning pearl of the necklace. In the rainy season, the water pours down from the top of the peak and the noise seems to be made by thousands of running horses. In the dry season the water calms down and the pebble, green weeds and the dynamic swimming fish can all be seen.

Another highlight is the 300.5 meters long, 183 meter high railway bridge built by China’s Ministry of Railway Administration. This bridge boasts several No. 1’s in the world such as its span distance of 128 meters, the deepest groundwork of 54 meter and the highest bridge pier of 100 meters. The two ends of the bridge are connected with two tunnels that go into the body of the mountains. The whole reserve increasingly attracts tourists with its amazing natural and manmade wonders.
