The reserve, with the highest peak – the Xian wang peak at the center, consists of a few platforms that are nearly one thousand square meters in area. The whole forest has a land area of approximately 2, 000 acres.

Being a real kingdom of wild plants and animals, Xianheping is home to more than 800 types of subtropical evergreen broadleaf trees, some of which are of high economic value. Among the trees there also grow a great number of herbs for traditional Chinese medicine and mushrooms for food. Some specie in the reserve is on the fringe of extinction and thus under strict national protection. In the spring time the reserve turns out to be an ocean of flowers, colorful flowers are everywhere such as azalea. When the summer comes, the whole reserve is covered with lush woods, some gigantic tree seems to reach the sky and the sunshine has been blocked. In the golden autumn when many sweet fruits such as the kiwi fruit ripen, the reserve becomes the Garden of Eden. A few months later the snowy winter falls, the green reserve turns white overnight. In each season of a year, the wonderful reserve will not let her visitors down. Major attractions here are the Heavenly Street, Crane Pools, Stone Forest, Stone Gate and Kiwi Fruit Woods on the Hillside

Heavenly Street

On the top of the Xiangwang peak there are a number of regular red sandstones which looks like a street on the rock. So this attraction gets its name of Heavenly Street. Standing on the Xiangwang peak of 1,756.7 meters above sea level, one can take a bird’s eye view of the whole zone and other hills and peaks look much smaller. Each year many cranes come and inhabit here for a few months, therefore the reserve is called Xianheping which mean the place where cranes settle down.

Crane Pools

The dozens of pools scatters on the swamp land of the Xiling Mountain. The pool abounds with various water grasses and insects which form a perfect habitat for cranes, the pools are thus called.

Stone Forest

The five acre stone forest is situated close to the mountainous path to the Xiling Mountain. The height of the irregular stones ranges form eight to four meters. Entering into the forest, one seems to be trapped in a labyrinth.

Stone Gate

It is located in a valley of the Xiling Mountain and about 20 meters in width. On both sides of the stone gate there stand many bluffs and cliffs and the gate is the only passage to Xiling.

Kiwi Fruit Woods on the Hillside

In the reserve there is a famous kiwi fruit forest which consists of over a hundred kiwi trees and yield very sweet fruits in fall. Among the kiwi trees there grow some short but bushy tea trees.

Edition HistoryEdit How to get there:

There is no public bus from Anlong to Xianheping. The only option is to ride a minibus first from Anlong to Xinlong (2Yuan/person) and then rent a motorbike to reach the mountain foot (10Yuan/person).

Edition HistoryEdit Tips:
1.It takes about one and a half hours to climb the mountain. Tourists can hire a local villager for guiding and carrying luggage (basically 10 Yuan/bag). No admission fee to the Reserve is charged but the small hotel, not good in facilities and services, on the top of the mountain is quite expensive. Camping is an alternative, campers are supposed to bring along enough food and beverage. There is no electricity on the top of the mountain but clean drinkable water is available. Finally mobile phone service is very poor up there. 2.Suggested time spent in the spot: Three hour
