Qilian Jade, Haibei

in 1984, the jades of Qilian County were named Qilian Jade after tested by the Jade Laboratory of Department of Mine and Geology. Qilian Jade is a joint name of various jades produced in Qilian Mountain and Altyn Tagh regions. Qilian Jades express different kinds of green, some are light green, some are verdant, some are dark green and some are white. The jades are fine and close in texture, gentle and beautiful in color and luster. The rigidity of the jades is between 4 to 7 degrees and they have high values both in craftwork and in economy. The jade carvings are tender, rounded and semi-transparent.
