Just as the name implies, "Laoba (means old dad)" teahouse is the place for the old dads and the old moms to get together and drink some tea. Drinking Laoba tea has become one of the most characteristic local leisure activities in Haikou.
This kind of teahouses can often be found along the narrow streets of the ancient town area. The teahouses are often simply decorated. They are only small stores standing along the street. What they have are only some desks and chairs, and the fragrant tea and tasty desert. You don't have to make reservation before you go there. Just be there and order a pot of tea with only some dimes. However, considerate services would be provided, even if you were drinking in the teahouse from the early morning till the late afternoon.
Drinking Laoba drinking does not mean to drink any famous tea, ordinary tea like green tea, red tea, or jasmine tea would be nice. Besides, you may have the chance to taste some tasty snacks in the teahouses.
