Brief introduction to the scenic spot:
Located 20 km. of Baoding, Mancheng Tomb is the mausoleum of Zhongshan Emperor Jing Liusheng and his wife Douwan and famous for its unearthed ‘Jade Suit Sewn with Gold Thread’ and ‘Changxin Palace Lantern’. The tomb is situated in the main peak of Mount Ling, 1.5km southwest of Mancheng county. The Mount Ling owns a chair shape and is magnificent. A tomb being carved out of the mountain is the prominent feature of tombs of the emperors in ancient China.
There are two complete suits of ‘Jade Suit Sewn with Gold Thread’, both made of jade pieces and sewn with gold thread. It is the priceless and most delicate suit in the world. The one of Liusheng is a little longer with 498 jade pieces and 1100 g. gold thread. Another one is the same in structure with fewer raw materials. And ‘Changxin Palace Lantern’ is a gild palace lantern with 48 cm. high held by a maid of honor who sits on knees beside, in the lantern there carved the inscriptions.
The structure of tombs of the Han Dynasty imitated the palace of the Emperor Liusheng with a large size of 2700 s. It embraces the south and north siderooms and front and back hall. The main room in the back is the place kept the white marble bier. And the drainage system inside the tomb is excellent.
