There are two ports in Qinhuangdao city, namely Shanhaiguang port and Qinhuangdao port. Qinhuangdao port was begun to be built in 1898, and is a natural ice-free port. It is a multi-functional all-around national port which is mainly engaged in the export of energy sources. Meanwhile, it also deals with the business of chandleries and containers. The annual throughput can reach as high as 127,000,000 tons, only second to Shanghai port in China. It bears a large proportion of the export of the northeast China, the north China and northwest China. As regards the passenger transport, there are regular ships between Qinhuangdao and Dalian every week. In most cases, these ships would set off from Qinhuangdao in single days and return from Dalian the next day. It will take about 14 hours for single-way sailing, the tickets ranges from 100 yuan to 338 yuan according to the class of cabin you are seated in.
