The food cultures in Harbin could be described as rich and colorful. Having rich foods cultural heritages for thousands of years, the local traditional foods of Harbin such as Braised Chicken with Fresh Mushrooms, Braised Pork with Vermicelli , Songren Xiaodu (pinenuts tripe) , Bones with Sauce and so on hold its strong and unique characters. Additionally, the authentic Russian dinner should not be missed if you come to Harbin. What's more, tasting the wyvern and "Three Valuable Fishes" and eating all kinds of cuisines and delicious foods are also the indispensable components when travelling to Harbin.
As far as we know that the climate of Harbin is deadly cold. For adapting to this adverse environment, the people who lived in this area at the very beginning gradually created a special diet of ice and snow culture. The "froen foods" and "raw foods" are the representatives of this culture. For the same reason, the local people had formed the habit of drinking alcohol. Totally speaking, the restaurants in Harbin not only provide the local special foods, but also offer the foreign foods. The most popular restaurants include :Dongfang Jiaozi Wang (King of Eastern Dumplings), Huamei Western Restaurant, Futai Restaurant, Beilaishun Restaurant, Jiangnanchun Restaurant, Xigema Restaurant and so on. And most famous restaurants center on two streets: Central Street, Yellow River Road.
And according to the statistic, there were 37 western restaurants existed in the Central Street in 1937. The introduction of these foreign foods deeply influenced the traditional eating patterns of Heilongjiang. From the points of dinning forms, methods or other aspects, those restaurants showed people a brand-new eating concept, such as the table setting of western dinner, the layout and the decoration of the hotels.
Most restaurants there not only have a long history, elegant surrounding and nice services, but offered nearly all kinds of local delicious foods. The most important thing is that these restaurants show people all the characters of the local food culture.
