Qilin Mountain Scenic and Historic Interest Area is one of the top 10 scenic regions in Jixi City. Cragged mountains and clear water make bewitched natural scenery here. Combined with the distinctive culture deliberately, the sight of the Qilin Mountain is unique in Jixi.
This mountain faces north and its tail was in south. The north peak seems like the head and corn of a unicorn while the south peak looks like its tail. When you stare carefully at the range, you will find it similar to a gigantic unicorn lying over there. That’s why people named it Qilin Mountain. People here regard this mountain as the representative of the God and consider it as the symbol of auspicious. The Qilin Mountain itself is the most essential part of this scenic region as a whole.
There are ten great scenic spots in this interest area as follows: Qilin delivery blessing; sleeping Buddha; camel peak; Dianjiang Platform; artificial waterfall; queer stones on the wall; eight-angle pavilion; precious birds’ garden; fish-observation pool and the bandits' lair of Xie Wendong. Mountains and ranges compete against each other for their beauty while the main peak is famous for its unique spectacle and the other ranges have their own characteristics with different verves. Among the mist-wreathed mountains and valleys, sometimes three columns of circled morning fog appear over the mountains, floating between the water and the sky, which makes this place a fairy land. People astonished at this amazing scenery and regard this view as the incense from paradise. Hundred birds garden is another place that connects you with the nature closely and keeps the human and the birds in great harmony. In this garden, you can see precious birds like red-crowned crane and white swans, and you can also find the track of other animals, just like the naughty monkeys. You can both taking photos and feeding the pigeons and turkeys. If you are brave enough, you can ride on a lusty Mongolian horse in the racecourse, running on the sandy land and tastes the fun of a rider. On the opposite side of the mountain, there is another quite and isolated place in where is the only exhibition hall of ancient instruments of torture in China. Walking into this hall, you’ll feel like getting into the channel of our long history which gives you great space of leisurely thinking. Besides, there are flourishing original forest, ever-green pine trees, various kinds of protected wild animals, nutritious Houtou Mushroom, uncommon tiny-scale fish, priceless herb medicines like ginseng and fruit of Chinese magnolia vine and the sterling natural mineral spring which is good for your health and prolong life.
