Chinese Shadow (Chinese Shadow puppet play) is the sister art of Paper Cut. In earlier years, Chinese Shadow was called paper shadow since its material was thin cupboard. The paper puppet was easily worn out, so Chinese Shadow artists turned to leather, cow skin and donkey skin, and have kept on using them until now. The features and making processes of Chinese Shadow are very similar to Paper Cut. Thus many Chinese Shadow artists are proficient in Paper Cut as well. The folk artists of Chinese Shadow and Paper Cut are marvelous, and their works are worthy of applause.
