An'yang with a history of over 3,000 years is one of the crade of Chinese civilization. It was the site of Yin, the last capital of the ancient Shang Dynasty.
There are many places of historic interest here: At present, there are two national historic monuments, thirty-six provincial historic monuments, such as, Ye City where Ximenbao regulated watercourses, Fuhao Mausoleum (Fuhao was the first woman general who was valiant and good at military strategies), Two Emperors' Mausoleums (two legendary emperors :Zhuanxu and Diku) and the Yin Ruins.
In 1899, inscriptions in oracle bones, the earliest form of Chinese character were discovered in Anyang. Those complex pictographic inscription mainly recorded the politics, the economic and the cultural activities in the Yin and Shang Dynasties and are of great historical value. An'yang therefore has been renowned as "home of inscriptions on oracle bones'.
An'yang is a required stop for travelers wanting to fully explore China's long and complicated history. Museum of Yin Ruins displays the splendor of the Yin and Shang Dynasties and the long history of Huaxia Civilization; Youli City was where the the book-Zhouyi(Book of Changes of Zhou Dynasty) was written. During the Zhou Dynasty, Weng Emperor Jichang was held in captivity here and he spent 7 years painstakingly in writing the book-Zhouyi; Temple of Yuefei always remind us of the hero-Yuefei, who dedicated his life to his country; Two Emperors' Mausoleums prove An'yang's long history. The Grotto of Lingquan Temple also called Wuanfo Ravine shows the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty through the various statues scattering all over the mountain;
Besides rich cultural sights, An'yang also has chanting natural scenery: Small Southern Sea Scenic Area, Pearl Spring Scenic Area, Linlvshan Scenic Area and Taihang Grand Canyon Scenic Area, etc.
