In Wuliyuan Town, Xiuwu County, there is a spring called Mafang Spring. The spring seeps from stones and forms a large pond and moves toward south. It is said that Liu Haichan in the Five Dynasties (907 - 960A.D.) experimented pellet here. There is a kind of stone-shelled bug living in the spring. It is about half a cun long. The bug swims in the spring with its body revealed out of the shell. When touch it, it will withdraw its body into the shell. After eating the bug, ducks will produce eggs which are large, of high quality, fresh and tasty, and often with two yolks. Through processing, the eggs become preserved eggs with distinctive fragrance and unique flavor. Ever since the end of Yuan Dynasty (1206 - 1368A.D.), emperors in different dynasties listed it as the state banquet delicacy. Now, it sells well all around the country.
