Being the oldest capital city in Chinese history, Luoyang is the ancient capital that had witnessed the rise and fall of about 13 dynasties for over 12,000 years, including Xia, Shang, Western Zhou, Eastern Han, Sui, and Tang dynasties.
Luoyang locates on the mountainous area of west Henan Province, east to Songshan Mountain, west to Qinling Mountains, south to Funiushan Mountain, and north to Taixingshan Mountain. Due to the complex and volatile terrain and landform, Luoyang gave birth to landscapes like famous mountains and rivers, lakes and waterfalls, caves and hot-springs, virgin forests and so on. There are major attractions including Longmen Grottoes, White Horse Temple, Luoyang Folk Museum, and Museum of Ancient Tombs.
What's more, Luoyang produces the best peonies in China, thus being the venue of a yearly peony festival which will be hold from April 15 to 25 every year. In China, peony is a famous traditional flower, which implicates the quality of magnificence, beauty, affluence, prosperity as well as the elegant demeanor of the great Chinese people.
