The Luoyang popular tune or ditty is a great school of the Henan opera with a history of more than 60 years already. Because it bears strong local colour and expresses the working people's thoughts and feelings , it has already spread over all parts of Henan Province and are well received by the masses of people. The Luoyang popular tune or ditty has on the whole three stages of development, i.e. " sit on the ground and play ", " performance on stilts " and " stage performance". In the performance practice of several decades ,the ditty is improving constantly, music for voices in a Chinese opera perfected, the competence of playing improved , and a unique system of gongs and drums has been formed.
