It is well-known that Hong Kong people love to bet on horse. If they have interest and time and money is enough, visitors are advised to go to the racecourse to experience the exciting and nervous atmosphere of the horse race by themselves. What's even special is that there is a Hong Kong Horse Race Museum built for it on Hong Kong Island. Every year between September and June in the following year is the horse race season when thousands of horse race fans rush to the racecourses to entertain themselves. Visitors can also join in the Horse Race Tour Group held by Hong Kong Tourism Association to view personally the grand activity and try their luck.

Happy Valley Equestrian

The thunderous or roaring sound of racing horses and the scene of ten thousand people's applause can not be described with ink but can only be experienced by oneself. Built in 1846, Happy Valley Racecourse later opened night race and built Sha Tin Racecourse in 1978, which made horse race become the hottest bet in Hong Kong. There are large-scaled computer screen and various advanced facilities in the racecourse.

How to get there: Walk outside the Time Square Exit of Causeway Bay Underground Station and continue to Wong Nai Chung Road. Visitor can also take the electrical bus running on Happy Valley Racecourse line.

Sha Tin Equestrian: Hong Kong Olympic Equestrian Venue

Equipped with world class facilities, Hong Kong Olympic Equestrian Venue will offer place for equestrian events including Jumping, Dressage, and Eventing for Beijing Olympics 2008. Here a 5.7-km temporary cross country track ten meters in width has been constructed.  The equestrian events including Dressage and Jumping events will be hold in the main venue converted from the Hong Kong Sports Institute and the Penfold Park in Sha Tin. It owns 18000 seats. The cross-country test of the Eventing competition venue will be hold at Beas River Country Club in Sheung Shui. The venue has 80 temporary stable blocks. And there are 13 practice arenas available for Jumping and Dressage as well as 3 practice arenas for cross-country test. The Hong Kong Equestrian offers every facility needed in Olympics for horses and athletes.

Hong Kong Equestrian in Sha Tin: If you are the ticket-holder of the day, you can take bus from university train station to Hong Kong Equestrian in Sha Tin directly for free.

Hong Kong Equestrian in Beas River Country: If you are the ticket-holder of the day, you can take bus from Fenling train station to Hong Kong Equestrian in Beas River Country directly for free.
