Hong Kong Maritime Museum

Hong Kong Maritime Museum, located on the underground of Murray House in Stanley Plaza, began to be constructed in 2003 and began to open to the public in 2005 with the support of shipping communities in Hong Kong, aiming to show shipping history, ship technology and the trade between China and other countries, . Thus, the museum can be ranked as a paradise for ship enthusiasts. In the museum, visitors can appreciate hundreds of exhibits, such as shipping antiques, ship models, documents and paintings.

The museum mainly consists of an ancient hall and a modern hall, with the exhibition area of 500 square meters. In the ancient hall, the most attractive collection is a valuable ship model with a history of two thousands of years, dating back to the Han Dynasty. In the modern hall, visitors can know about shipping technology and technological innovation in the future. What’s more, visitors can learn to control the helm of a modern container ship and guide it into Hong Kong’s port, through an interactive computer simulation display. Besides, there are some special exhibitions, events and displays.
