Po Lin (Precious Lotus) Monastery was originally built by three monks in 1924. It is a popular center for its believers. There are some wonderful scenic spots including the Big Buddha on the Muk Yue Peak, Fahua Pagoda and Huayan Pagoda, Lotus Mountain and Lion Stone. The stately Majestic Palace and Heaven King Palace are also points of interest. Po Lin Monastery offers accommodation for visitors who want to view the sunset on the Phoenix Mountain or want to mediate for a short time.

Visitor don’t need to pay for the Big Buddha but have to buy the ticket for vegetable diet at a cost of HK$28 for the three-storied exhibition house under it.

Method1: Visitors can first take the Tung Chung Underground and get off at Tung Chung Station (it takes about 35 minutes from Hong Kong Station to Tung Chung Station), and then take the No.23 Bus of New Lantau Bus Company to Ngong Ping (the journey takes about 50 minutes).
Method2: There are new ferries to Mui Wo at No.6 Port of Central around the Star Port and outside the Hong Kong Station of Airport Express Line (it takes 40 minutes by the high-speed ferry but 60 minutes by the common one). Then at Mui Wo, visitor can take No.2 Bus of New Lantau Bus Company to Ngong Ping (the journey takes about 50 minutes).
