Chinese New Year Horse Racing in Hong Kong

Chinese New Year Horse Racing is one of the most distinctive activities of Hong Kong . Hong Kong people believe that their good fortune starts at a bet on their favourite horse at racecourse. The Chinese New Year Horse Racing is held on the third day of the first month on Chinese lunar calendar at the Sha Tin racecourse. It is also the first horseracing in the Year of the Rabbit. Traditional Chinese folk performances which are believed to bring good fortune to racing fans will be on stage, including lion dancing, dragon dancing and the performance of the Coming of the God of Fortune. Note: Racecourse restricted to adults aged 18 years and over.

Date: 25, January, 2012 (the third day of the first month on Chinese lunar calendar)

Time: 11am

Venue: Sha Tin Racecourse

Admission:  Tourist badge – HK$100 (with presentation of valid travel document)

Ticket: Tourist badge available at Sha Tin Racecourse and designated Off-course Betting Branches.
