Yumu Stockacled Village protrudes from the mountain with cliffs at both sides, and is connected with the outside world by a narrow gate in the middle. It is said that, in the ancient time, Tan governor wanted to defeat Ma governor but failed because of the strategic condition of Yumu Stockacled Village. Several months later, the Ma governor threw down numerous fish at Tan’s tent, which caused Tan governor sighted “The possibility of seizing this village is as little as fishing on the wood”, thus derived the name Yumu Stockacled Village.
At present, in the village live more than 500 Tujia people. And there are 10 tombstones of Qing dynasty preserved in it, all of them are above 5 meters in height and are carved with superb skill. Its tourist spots are two dangerous passes chiseled on the cliff called Sanya ngguan and Liangtizi, the simple but elegance relics like the Ancient City Wall and Liuji Hall, and the majestic Jitougou Waterfall of more than a hundred meters in height around the village.
