Xiangyang Ancient Town

Xian gyang Ancient Town has a history of more than 2,800 years and was first built in the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD). The whole ancient town is in a square shape with the circumference of 7.km. The city is surrounded by the moat, the widest of which is 250m. The Xiangyang Ancient Town wins the reputation of “the No.1 City in China”, “iron-hit Xiangyang”.
Surrounded torrential Han River in the north, east and south, Xiangyang Ancient Town is against Yanhu Mountain, Phoenix Mountain and other mountains. The city wall was first erected in Han Dynasty and renovated by all dynasties and till now is well preserved. The wall is about 10m high, 1.3m-1.5m wide and with the circumference of 7.4km.As against mountain and facing river, the wall is grand. Li Yangong of Ming Dynasty wrote a poem to acclaim the city wall “The pavilions are against the mountains, the high town is up to the sky”. The moat of the city has an average width of 180 meters and at its widest is 250 meters, the widest in China, known by the reputation of “The No.1 City in China”.
