Juzi (means orange) Island in the Xian gjiang River formed in the 305 AD, covered by the flourished and aged trees. The name of island was derived from a famous poem of Chairman Mao Zedong, also well-known for its product, the orange.
It absolutely looks like a large green vessel, sailing in the center of Xiangjiang River with 5 km long and 45-200km wide, which connects the Mountain Yuelu and the downtown. The island is a famous and the longest inland river island in China. The island is a popular site for summer resort as there is no hot weather even in May to July. Now, the island is becoming a park, where the majority of the residents, the orange trees, offer the visitors with their sweet fruit in every harvest season.
There are swimming beaches at the both sides of the island, and the local government has made the great effort on integrating traveling, entertainment, sports, culture and commerce in the island. In the next years, the area will be divided into Two Corridors and Seven Gardens: Hunan Culture Corridor, On-water Amusement Corridor, Orange Garden, Garden of the Nature, Park of Harmonious Guests, Plaza of Shopping and Foods, GYM Center, Relaxation Resort and Wildlife Park.
