Zhangjiajie's main tourist draw is the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in the year 1992 for its lush vegetation, unique sandstone pillars, pristine waters and a wide variety of species of flora and fauna. It contains three major sights including the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Suoxi Valley, and Tianzi Mountain with the coverage of 396 square kilometers. There are totally over 3000 mountains, eight hundred rivers and streams, praised as the “natural Chinese painting” and “fairyland in man’s world”.
