The park consists of four parts: Hongshan District, Beishan District, Dongshan District and Xishan District, where different typical northern trees are growing and form a rare forest landscape on the spacious Inner Mongolia grassland. Besides, this park has all kinds of herbal plants and wild animals. The park is a combination of natural and human landscapes as well. There are 47 peaks in this park, which tower grandly and form different lifelike shapes, such as Mountain-leaning Buddha, Crouching Cameral, General Stone and Up-looking Toad and so on. As one of the birthplaces of Chinese culture, Hongshan Mountain has been considered as the First Cultural Mountain in China, because in this mountain area there are many human relics, like ancient Sun God Statue, Relics of Yan Kingdom Great Wall in Warring States Period, Relics of Liao and Jin Culture, and Mulan Stele and so on. A jade dragon excavated in this area was regarded as the first dragon in the world and has won great reputation at home and abroad.
