Brief-introduction:
When the water level reach 12.5 meters, the total area of the lake is 3,000,000 Mu, it is the second largest freshwater lake of Jiangsu Province. According to the record, it was part of Huanghai Bay 2,000,000 years ago, because of the lashing of huge water flow, the bay was changed into inland, but left many lakes and pounds. In 616 B.C. Emperor Suiyang traveled Jiangdu by ship, but he found the land was dry through the way, when he arrived Pofu Pound, a heavy rain came, then he gave the name Hongze to the pound, In Tang Dynasty, it was changed into Hongze Lake.
