Huai’an has been considered as the place where five rivers and nine provinces meet, Beijing - Hangzhou Grand Canal, Huaihe River, Yanhe River, Huai Shuxin River, Subei River and the newly cut channel link Xuzhou on the north, Lianyungang on the east, Changjiang River on the south, nothern Anhui on the west, the port can handle up to 13,000,000 tons of cargo a year.
