Yangzhou enjoys advantageous geographical location and therefore convient waterway and landway transportation. There are verticaly and horizentally netwoks of transportation extending in all directions. The surburban couties of Yangzhou are run across by Yangtze River , and its urban areas are close to Huaihe River and the Jinghang Great Canal.
There area about ten main stems and branch lines constituting the highway traffic network within the city. They connect South Jiangsu Province with Wanbei area, and reach North Jiangsu Province in a rediation way. With Yangzhou as the center, there are Ningtong Arterial Highway in the east, Yanggua Highway in the south, Ningyang Arterial Highway in the west, and Huaijiang Highway and Ninglian Arterial Highway in the north. They present together a transportation network boasting of efficiency and convience.
