Overview
Yixing City, called Yi for short, is a country-level city within the jurisdiction of Wuxi City, in the south of Jiangsu Province. Yixing is located on the Yangtze River Delta and on the north bank of Tai Lake with a total area of about 2,038 square kilometers and the population of 1,062,363. It is also situated in the middle of three major cities, Shanghai, Nanjing and Hangzhou and is about 160 kilometers away from Nanjing which is the provincial capital of Jiangsu Province. Besides, it is located at the juncture of three provinces, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui. Yixing is home to potteries and professors because lots of famous professors in China were born there and Yixing is also known for its environmental protection. Yixing abounds with biological and mineral resources and is the largest tea-growing base in Jiangsu Province.
