Zhoutang Preserved Pear, Jieyang

Green peel pear grows in abundance in Zhoutang, Didu Town, Jiedong County. It’s one of good fruits in South China. Zhoutang’s green peel pear is crisp and fragrant. Its peel is thin while its pulp is thick. Its stone is small. It’s full of sweet juice. It is impregnated with all kinds of nutrients like sugar and vitamin. It can be eaten as a kind of fruit, be used for medicine and be made into preserved pear or tinned pear. Slice preserved pear and then soak it in water.  Drinking the water has the functions of curing many illnesses like rheumatism, swelling and sore throat, toxic heat and dryness of lung. Especially in the hot South East Asia, its curative effect is even more remarkable. Overseas Chinese call it “ Tangshan Native Antelope”.
