A brief introduction to the scenery spot:
Changsha n Pearl Park was built in the year 1988 funded by Changshan Heat and Power Plant. The park was originally named as Water Garden. In order to make full use of the advantage of the geographical environment of the park and faster develop the tourist industry, Changshan Heat and Power Plant invested to fully reconstruct the park in the year 2001. The name of the park thus changed to be Pearl Park. It is administrated by Changshan Heat and Power Plant Pearl Industry Company. The current pearl park covers an area of 2.2 square kilometers, in which the water area is 14 thousand square kilometers and the area covered by plants is over 10 thousand square meters. Sixteen functional areas are set in the park, which includes the area for historical education, area for training to live in open air, area for food and drink, area for gardens, area for modern pleasance, area for appreciating lotus, area for enjoying the plants, area for boating and fishing, area for winter sporting, etc.
In the eastern area of the park there is a stele made in Qing Dynasty, on which texts are carved in three languages, Manchurian, Mongolian and Chinese. The western part is for boating and entertainment. The southern part is the area of gardens in Suzhuo’s style. In the northern part there is Kading vehicles and fishing platforms. In the central part of the lake is man-made lake, the water of which is from Nenjiang River. The statues of the eight immortals (in Taoist mythology, usu. identified as Han Zhongli, Zhang Guolao, Lue Dongbin, Li Tieguai, Han Xian gzi, Lan Caihe, and He Xiangu) in the sea which were sculptured as they are crossing the sea are very vivid and remarkably true to the life. The hanging bridge connects the statues and the little waterfall skillfully. The central part of the lake catches both of the straightforward style of the northern gardens and the elegant and fine style of the southern gardens. The way in which the lake is constructed is changeable. It integrates both the style of skillfulness, fun and grotesquery. The arts of garden and literature are combined together. The whole buildings of the garden are conveying the founded meaning.
