Xihe Dagu forms the biggest family in the Dagu clan and is one of folk art heritages in China. It originated from the Xianzishu and Muban Dagu in the central area of Hubei Province in the mid Qing Dynasty. And now it has been popular in Hebei and Shandong provinces, Tianjin and Beijing municipalities, and Northeast and Northwest China.

There are about 150 long and 370 short traditional items left in the record. Most of them are  war stories of the past dynasties, historical romances, folk stories, popular novels, fairy tales, fables and jokes, etc. The feelings, thoughts and hopes of working people are well reflected by the windy plots and vivid language. They remind people of how Chinese resisted against oppression and eulogized the new life.
