Aidelai silk is a kind of local product which is full of unique national feature. It’s the material which the women of the Uigur nationality use to make clothes. There are two major producing regions. One is the silk produced in Kashen and Shache. It’s famous for its bright and florid color. Its pattern is exquisite, smooth and well – knit. It often applies some colors, such as, emerald green, sapphire blue, yellow, purple, pink, etc.. The other is the silk produced in Hetian and Luopu. This silk pays attention to the effects of black and white, and the changes of emptiness and fullness. The pattern is rugged and unrestrained. The color is very simple but highly diversified.
It’s said the patterns of Aidelai Silk are the reflection of the religious consciousness that the Uigur people believed in Shamanism and worshiped the hamadryad and the water spirit in ancient times. Some people think the patterns of Aidelai Silk are the transfiguration of Badan grain of wood and comb, and the transfiguration of national musical instrument.
