Also named as Bat Stone, its formal name is trilobite fossil. It was formed in the Paleozoic Cambrian Period 500 million years ago. Dawenkou at the foot of the southern slop of Mountain Tai, Yan Village and Gao Village are among the places with the most plentiful storage of Swallow stones. The stone colors of swallow stones are mainly dark green or light green with purple like brown and the insect fossil is light yellow and project over the stone with a height of from 2 centimeters to 4 centimeters. In terms of shape, it is just like a swallow flying its swings and also flying bat. The quality of the stone is very delicate and it is as clean as jade. When knocked, there is sound of copper and it touches like grease. Swallow craftwork has a long history and began to exist ever since Ming and Qing Dynasty. Swallow stone ink stones are usually called “Blessing Ink Stone” or”Big Fortune Ink Stone”.
