Xugong Inkstone, Linyi

Xugong inkstone is an important type of Shandong inkstone. It has been famous as early as Tang and Song Dynasties. The noted calligraphists Yan Zhenqin,Liu Gongquan in the Tang Dynasty(618-907AD),  Ouyang Xiu, Su Shi, Mi Fu etc in the Song Dynasty(960-1276AD),introduced and evaluated Xugong inkstone and thought highly of it. Xugongdian Village of QingLu town in Yinan County is the only birthplace of Xugong inkstone and also abounds in the inkstone, which belongs to Basalt Layer. The quality of the stone is hard and the density is extremely high. When you knock it, it sounds melodious. The color is bright and the innstone never destroys brushes bristles. It is recognized as the high-quality of the innstone. You can buy it at any historical relic shop in Linyi and Yinan.
