Qingtian Stone Carving, Lishui

Qingtian stone Carving is an artwork carved with Qingtian stone as material. It is popular due to its elegant sculpting and exquisite sculpting technique and is descried “embroidering on the stone”which is acclaimed as the peak of perfection.

As a great achievement of traditional stone carving artwork in China, Qingtian Stone Carving has a long history. The earliest artwork of Qingtian stone carving seen now is treasured up in Zhejiang Museum, which is a little lying pig excavated from the ancient grave of Liuchao Dynasty. The art style of the artwork is similar to Han Dynasty and Wei Dynasty which is simple in line and sculpting and has both shape and spirit.
