Luoyang is located in the north temperate zone, enjoying a continental climate, with four distinct seasons. The annual average temperature is 14.86℃, and the yearly precipitation is 578.2mm. The best time to visit Luoyang is in autumn, boasting an invigorating climate. Autumn is also a suitable time for appreciating chrysanthemum contending in fragrance and fascination. April is also a good time to travel to Luoyang when various graceful peony flowers are in full bloom, and Luoyang holds peony festival during that time annually, attracting numerous tourists to appreciate China’s national flower.

Spring lasts from late March to mid-May, which is relatively dry and cold. Summer lasts from late May to early September, which is hot and rainy. Most of rain concentrates during summer period. Autumn lasts from mid-September to early November, which is relatively cool and comfortable. Winter lasts from late November to early March, which is very chilly and there is frequent snowfall.
