Malaysia is located in Southeast Asia. Its capital city is Kuala Lumpur. As “Malay” means “gold”, the Malay Peninsula is also called the “Golden Peninsula”. Malaysia consists of 13 states, which is separated by the South China Sea into two regions: West Malaysia and East Malaysia. West Malaysia is also known as Peninsular Malaysia. It borders Thailand to the north, Straits of Johor to the south and connects Singapore via Johor-Singapore Causeway and a bridge. East Malaysia is also known as Malaysian Borneo. It is located in the north of Kalimantan Island and borders Indonesia to the south. Brunei is located between states of Sabah and Sarawak.
