It is also called old wine or yellow wine in Hakka regions. It is said that it has a history of 5,000 years. It is somewhat like the glutinous rice wine in the south of the lower reaches of the Yangze River, but it tastes with a special flavor. It is milky white in color. It is so thick that dipping a chopstick into the wine can extract silks. It is delicious with strong fragrance. After drinking it, a comfortable feeling passes through your mind. These are recorded in Youxueqionglin “Niang wine of Hakka tastes sweet with strong fragrance, a little milky red in color. Drinking it can activate channels and collaterals, keep youthfulness and strengthen the body”. Drinking niang wine is a custom of Hakka, especially in banquets and festivals.
