Lake Crape is a traditional local product, which was called “Shunqing Limpid Lake Crape” in old time. It is one of the most important products which have earned the reputation of “the Silk Town” for Nanchong. It is made by silk, dyed into cyan, with the breadth of 34 centimeters and the length of 16 meters. There are many wrinkles in the crape, which look like many wrinkles in the lake, so it is named Lake Crape. Lake Crape is simple but elegant in appearance, and soft but stretchy to touch. The main customers of it are villagers in the west area of China, like: Hunan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan and Gannan, Shannan, Xinjiang and so on. And it is especially popular among those women living in the ethnic group who have the habit to cover their hair with crape. This is an old local custom in which covering hair with lake crape is a symbol of being loyal, honest, graceful and better off.
