Nanjing Pubs & Bars

Praised as the living room of Nanjing, Nanjing 1912 Bar Street is the paradise for enjoying nightlife, boasting ancient buildings, modern equipment, elegant atmosphere as well as delicacy with strong Nanjing flavor.

The most popular bar & restaurant in Nanjing is Blue Sky Western Bar & Restaurant.  Situated on Shanghai Lu it is easily accesible from XinJieKou, Wutai and the University areas.

The majority of foreigners, who do not want their eardrums destroyed by the boom, boom, boom, of "so called" pop music, go to Blue Sky.

There they have a great selection of good music to suit all tastes, they have a range of on-tap and bottled beers all served really cold, and they have a quite varied menu which will satisfy most needs ( including vegetarians ).

The people there seemed to be from all ages and all walks of life, and quite a few local chinese who said they really liked the atmosphere in Blue Sky.

The bar is owned by an Australian, but managed by an Irishman, strange combination !  The staff are very friendly and helpful, they spoke good english, and even helped me get a taxi back to my hotel.

They had a pool table, with monthly pool competitions, satellite tv with a good variety of sports shown, and you could actually talk to the people beside you.

This place is a long way ahead of any of it's opposition in that it has a warm, friendly atmosphere as soon as you walk in the door, the staff are helpful and speak good english, the beer and the food are reasonably priced ( other bars take note ), and the people there are friendly and talk openly with each other.

This would be my recommendation to anyone living, working or just visiting Nanjing, if you want to feel at home, go to Blue Sky.
