The famous Wolf Mountain Beauty Spot is composed of wolf Mountain, Military Mountain, Sword Mountain, Saddle Mountain City and Yellow Mud Mountain. The five mountains are facing the Changjiang River, exquisite, elegant and tender. With a crucial position controlling the river and the sea, it has been called the key to the river and the sea and calligrapher Midi from Song Dynasty appraised it as No.1 Mountain in the country. On the top of Wolf Mountain, scanning widely towards the Changjiang River running eastward, you will feel relaxed and happy faced with the water harmonious with the mountains in the same color. When you travel along the river by boat and overlook from the shed, you will find the five mountains are like a wash with hazy mountains or an absolutely extractive water and stone bonsai. The Wolf Mountain is in the middle of the five mountains humping northward and is also called “Zilang Mountain”. With an altitude of 104.8 meters and an area of 18 hectare, the Wolf Mountain is among the eight small Buddhist Mountains in China and is straight and beautiful, smooth in the south and exceeding in the north. Buddhist temples are the main composition on the top and are called Wide Instruction Buddhist Temple in general.
Wide Instruction Buddhist Temple was first built in Zongzhang Period of Tang Dynasty with appropriate density of architecture deployment and is like an inverted hanging huge dragon hidden in the foggy mountain and ancient green woods. “Faru Hall” used to Daxiong Palace of Wide Instruction Temple and was rebuilt in 1983 with ceramic tile fresco of eighteen dignitaries inside the hall. Zhao Puchu, the chairman of Chinese Buddhist Association, provided the superscription for Faru Hall which was evolved from the sense of “Drink the Milk of Buddhist and build a body of Buddhist” from Buddhist Scripture and the stele of “Ten Fingers Becoming the Woods” was written by Zhen Banqiao, one of the eight Yangzhou Strange Men.
Under the bluff on the north side of the mountain, North Foot Garden of Wolf Mountain was first built in 1956. There are a lot of stones with strange stones and the stream there flows happily and booths and temples are built there by making use of the natural scenery and the widely planted flowers and woods. Zhao Painting and Shen Embroidery Building, a famous scenic spot, was built by famous calligrapher Zhao Meng and the initiator of “Reality Resembling Embroidery” of China in Yuan Dynasty.
