Celestial River Ecology Scenic Area is located in the middle section of Mount Tiantai in Ninghai County of Zhejiang Province, boasting marvelous natural landscape, peculiar rock peaks, plunging waterfalls, primeval forests and modern amusement. Since ancient times, a number of men of literature and writing have been here, and Xu Xiake who was the famous geographer of the Ming Dynasty began his world famous travel from here. Covering a total area of 260 square kilometers, Celestial River Ecology Scenic Area consists of about 100 scenic spots, including 6 crooked brooks, 18 magnificent peaks, 28 gullies and 72 waterfalls, which feature primitiveness, mystery, wildness and magnificence. At present, there are 3 scenic areas that have been developed, including Dasongxi Gorge, Shuangfeng Forest Park and Water Sightseeing District.
Dasongxi Gorge is reputed as No.1 gorge in the east of Zhejiang Province, which boasts peculiar peaks and fantastic rocks standing in great numbers and plunging waterfalls. The zigzag gorge has the overall length of 20 kilometers with the perpendicular throw of over 900 meters. At the bottom of the gorge, there are odd stones near the brook, and the largest cobble is over one thousand tons heavy with the area of more than 100 cubic meters. Among them, the most fascinating attractions include Huangban beach, Feicui pool, Qise pool and Moon Gorge. Dasongxi Gorge is an ideal venue for brave men and explorers, and camping there is a good choice. Shuangfeng Forest Park contains 10 thousands of mu of natural evergreen broad-leaved forests, boasting pretty superior air quality.
