Highway transport

Kunming－Liuku

It is 581 km from Kunming to Liuku. It takes about 13 hours to go from Kunming to Liuku by night buses (price: 105 yuan) or the faster and more luxurious Gaokuai (literally “highway expresses”, and the price is 110 yuan, 160 yuan during the Spring Festival).

Kunming-Gongshan

It is 827 km from Kunming to Gongshan. A sleeper bus starts from Kunming Xiyuan Bus Station at 18:00 every day. And the journey takes about 18 hours. Price: 144 yuan.

Dali-Liuku

Regular buses run between Dali to Liuku every day. It takes 8 hours to get to Liuku and it costs 35 yuan.

Baoshan-Liuku

Tourists can go to Baoshan by air from Kunming. The price is 440 yuan. It takes 4 hours to go from Baoshan to Liuku by bus.

Tips: The area of Nujiang Prefecture is narrow and long, with Nujiang River roaring through and Biluo Snow Mountain and Gaoligong Mountain standing on the banks. The main scenery spots dot on both sides of the river, including the minority villages and the folk customs at the riverbank. Tourism has not been developed in Nujiang. Tourists had better rent a vehicle to go there. The price for a 6-seat minibus is 350-400 yuan per day, and tourists should pay for the driver’s food and accommodation. So it costs about 2,000 yuan for a round trip. Bargaining is necessary. And tourists should choose the minibuses that are in good condition because the road condition in Nujiang is not so good.
