There are treasures in the Liaodong Bay at Bohai Sea. The clam mound is such a place with many treasures. Visitors can take a boat to get to the clam mound. When tide is out, it is particularly romantic to step on the golden and soft beach.
The mound is famous for its clams, which has features of fresh taste and big shapes. The clams are famous all over the world, too. They are sold to Japan, Europe, etc. Clams are all over the mud when tide is out. There are various kinds of shellfishes at the clam mound, with a name of “storeroom of clams at Bohai Sea”.
The clams in Panjin have a long history. According to the data, clams came into being almost at the same time with human beings. Clams were recorded on the medical book, “Shen Nong’s Herbal Classic” by Tao Hongjing, a writer in the period of Southern and Northern dynasties. In the Tang Dynasty, clams were the tributes to royalty. Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty praised clams as “the most delicious seafood in China”, when he first tasted the clams at Erjie ditch. Now, people should and must agree with the reputation after they taste them.
Clams have high nutrition value. In China, there are over ten famous dishes made of clams. No matter how to make dishes with the material of clams, they taste delicious basically.
Visitors now can take boats to the clam mound to pick up clams. It has become a characteristic tourist program at the clam mound.
