Shangdian Town Beef;
Shangdian Town Beef is a specialty of Shangxi Village. It enjoys a long history and is a best--seller at home and abroad. The beef is healthy and stomach-nourishing with delicious taste and bright color. Especially it is regarded as the best stomach-- nourishing food for mid-aged and aged people. The beef is well-chosen and carefully-sliced before it is pickled and stewed with various spices like refined salt, capsicum, monosodium glutamate, sugar shallot, ginger, wild pepper and aniseed and so on at a certain heating. The more you eat, the more delicious it tastes, and it makes you have a good appetite and an aftertaste that lingers.
Lushan Languo Dish
Languo Dish is a kind of chowder, meticulously done, which combines ancient cuisine with the modern.It was conferred “uniquely flavored Lushan dishes” by the Cuisine Association in Henan Province. The ingredients are mainly pork, tofu, vermicelli, a vegetable called Juecai and vegetables in season, which form the unique flavored dinner. The pork is the rib well--selected from the pigs raised in the country, fragrant and tender. Tofu is oil-stewed, yellow outside and white inside. Vermicelli has a good taste. Wanzi is made of bone pork mixed with sweet potatoes, fried and tasting crisp. Juecai is crisp and tender, too.
Jia County Helao Noodle
It is a kind of wheaten food. A producer puts the dough of mixed buckwheat flour, Kaoliang flour (now wheat flour is usually used) into Helao rack and sits on the lever. Then, the dough is extruded into strips which are cooked directly in a pot. It is unknown when the unique tradition passed down to nowadays.
Salty Jellied Bean Curd
Salty jellied bean curd is one of the special flavored snacks in Wugang city. It is made differently from common methods in other places, that salty bean and soy sauce are directly put into the jellied curd. Its process is more complicated. At first, the fine soy bean is soaked and grinded into thick liquid, and then the liquid is heated and boiled, next a little alum is added for coagulating the liquid into bean curd, lastly pickled dry vegetable is put into the bean curd, which then mixed it with paste after being boiled. When eating with green pepper, soybean, leek (garlic sprout) and so on, it is more delicious and tasty and aftertaste will linger in your mouth.
Fenjiang noodle is one of the special flavored snacks in Wugang city. The liquid, which comes from the grinding of the soaked--pea, is called Fenjiang. Fenjiang is filtered by a bamboo basket. When the filtered Fenjiang is boiled, the noodle should be put in it and soaked and boiled. When it is tasty, the spices such as the wild pepper, ageratum and green pepper are added. The noodle smells so delicious that it makes you salivary as soon as it is taken out of the pot. If you do not eat till it is cool, you’ll enjoy a greater appetite because of its more delicious savor.
